All this, and Rocket Raccoon of Guardians of the Galaxy fame, in my look at:

This week, Budiansky vents his fury as we get duelling Marvel editors, in a story that will be deeply entertaining if you worked in their offices circa 1986. Everyone else may be buggered. All this, and Rocket Raccoon of Guardians of the Galaxy fame, in my look at: I, Robot-Master! Part 1.

What better way to kick off the second year of this blog than by having a big party? With music by Bruce Springsteen (or whatever the copyright dodging substitute version is called this week) and party games such as advanced sign reading to keep the kids entertained. All in my look at: Rock and Roll Out! Part 2. Special thanks to Snowkatt for the scans. Happy birthday me! Well, it's the 19th where I am anyway, but it does look as if whatever time-zone Weebly work at it's still the 18th. But we'll roll with Stuart Time. As a special first anniversary treat, I present the first in an occasional new series looking at non-Marvel Transformers items, in this case the all mighty, all conquering, all buildings falling down on your head LADYBIRD BOOKS! I'd like to take this chance, once again to thank you all for reading over the past year. Just look how happy my cat is to be celebrating this special Sunday. Happy birthday to us! This week sees the first anniversary of Transformation, so be sure to come back on Sunday for something a bit special. But first, Jetfire joins the Autobots, Blackrock teams up with Barrett and we get some "Proper" hard science fiction as I look at: Rock and Roll Out! Part 1. Like Joey Slick I try to redeem myself after making a howler of a factual error last week. Unlike Joey Slick I do this by writing an awful lot about Jenna Louise Coleman. All in my lookt at: Shooting Star! Part 2. Also, excitingly, I've written my first non-Transformation related review in nearly a year, of a TV show you won't have heard of. Read it here: http://thesolarpool.weebly.com/1/post/2013/05/out-of-sight-out-of-mind.html Undermind. There are obscure TV shows and obscure TV shows, and then there's Undermind. This 11 episode science fiction thriller was broadcast only once in 1965, and then never seen or head from again until Network, champions of obscure TV, released it on DVD in 2012. As a series that has been almost totally forgotten the main selling point- at least for me- is the scripts contributed by some of the very best Doctor Who writers (and Bill Strutton). The series itself was "evolved" by Robert Banks Stewart, David Whitaker provides one episode and Robert Holmes wraps up the entire series with a final two parter (and he'd rather cheekily reuse some of the ideas in a rejected Doctor Who pitch that would finally see the light of day in the '70's as the Peter Cushing and Vincent Price staring radio series Aliens in the Mind). That's some serious pedigree there. The show itself is both years ahead of its time, whilst also being incredibly dated. It's forward thinking in that it pre-dates the X-Files style conspiracy Sci-Fi decades before it was cool. The set up being that some mysterious alien force has been sending signals from space that brainwash those with unusually sensitive hearing, creating a cartel of sleeper agents working to destabilise British moral for... Well for reasons that never become very clear. After the big 50 party it's back to Earth for a bump for Joey Slick. Also this week: Far more about Robotix than any sane person could cope with.
