Happy birthday me! Well, it's the 19th where I am anyway, but it does look as if whatever time-zone Weebly work at it's still the 18th. But we'll roll with Stuart Time.

As a special first anniversary treat, I present the first in an occasional new series looking at non-Marvel Transformers items, in this case the all mighty, all conquering, all buildings falling down on your head LADYBIRD BOOKS!

I'd like to take this chance, once again to thank you all for reading over the past year. Just look how happy my cat is to be celebrating this special Sunday.

so all in all we wil be here in 2020 still
anyway
where iam from we had a few of the ladybird books not all but at least 4 of them and they were a lot smaller
about the size of a small tile and paperback

i remember laserbeak's fury mostly for its toy centric art and laserbeak rising up out of a tape deck

and your cat looks like one of mine ( who is pure black maligant evil )

since you are going to veer off in to other directions i was wondering if you will also tackle eugenesis
a huge and rambeling novel that has interesting ideas and ass numbing log chapters that are at times a slog to get through

but from it you can see where a lot of the crazy antics of mtme come from
including the body count

so next year there wil be cake yeah ?

Have no fear, the addendum stuff will be both very infrequent and in addition to the weekly updates, so it won't add anything to the schedule (though the ones on continuations will probably come after the main body is done). And yep, in the dim and distant future Eugenesis will be covered.

Cake for everyone!

I have long memories of the Ladybird books over four years, having been given Autobots' Lightning Strike one year and the next I went to a new school where the junior section had a large number of Ladybird books in the library. For three years we would sit in the school hall and read various Ladybirds to pass time in the period between lunch and the lunchtime break (I vaguely recall this was about avoiding doublebooking of the outdoor facilities). Amongst them were at least the first seven Transformers books (including the Movie adaptation) and I picked up the next two in Boots. Having only vague memories of the cartoon, and not having easy access to the comic at the time, these were my main introduction to the Transformers universe. Even at the age of 9 or 10 they were amongst the better Ladybirds to read and to be seen reading (especially if your class wasn't the first into the hall).

There are some oddities - I never realised at the time that the Nebulos books ignore the Headmaster process altogether and just assumed the relevant Transformers could operate in robot mode even without their heads. Nor did I stop to think much about some of the contradictions such as the Autobots living in a city and yet keeping the war secret from the wider world. In fact the books are one of the few continuities that actually tried to maintain "Robots in Disguise" and the idea that all this could be happening around us without our realising it probably just added to the appeal. Ultimately I guess I just accepted the books as individual tales without thinking too much about the wider continuity. By the time I had discovered much of the comic's early years I had largely forgotten about the Ladybirds so never stopped to wonder how they fitted together. The point made on many a letterspage that the cartoon was inaccurate probably helped to stop wondering minds from going there.

Until discovering the TFWiki, I was completely unaware of the existence of the final two books. It's amazing how these can pass one by.
