TRANSFORMATION 52: This Time With Less Errors.

Like Joey Slick I try to redeem myself after making a howler of a factual error last week. Unlike Joey Slick I do this by writing an awful lot about Jenna Louise Coleman. All in my lookt at:

Shooting Star! Part 2.

Also, excitingly, I've written my first non-Transformation related review in nearly a year, of a TV show you won't have heard of. Read it here:

I can vouch for the fact that the Transformers sticker album was fantastic. :)

Just rub the fact I've never seen it in my face. :(

I seem to recall a key complaint was that it took the cartoon as its basis for story material - watch out for Soundwave ranting about this.

I had the sticker album too! It was glorious. i wish i'd kept it. i seem to remember colouring in the pictures inside the album, which were screen caps.

my favourite bits were the six part 'puzzle' images that made up simplified box art pictures. I can recall Snarl, Inferno and Megatron.

i also seem to remember that the 'silvers' of Megatron in gun mode and the Decepticon Insignia were quite hard to come by...

Ah Pannini... they're great. Never had much truck with later rivals Merlin, whose stuff seemed not quite as good...

I fondly remember the Doctor Who sticker album from a few years ago that caused a lot of fuss amongst fans for it's empty space-waiting-to-be-filled caption which said "Tenth Doctor Regenerating". This being a couple of years before it actually happened and thus a lot of people had their expectations sadly deflated when it turned out to be a badly worded caption of the 9/10 regeneration sticker...

i still have the sticker album
its not really in a glorious state but it is still glorious even though some of its spotlights are a bit odd

inferno for instance or thrust

ive read the undermind review but i dont have much to say about it
mostly because its a series i never even heard off untill now

oh and i see i was mentioned in this review
i wouldnt go so far as call myself a fan but its better then some of the other weak stories ( cash and carnage springs to mind now )

the next issue is also nostalgia tinged even if its plot is ripped straight from the cartoon

but ah thats something for next week isnt it ?

Scans of the sticker album would be great, snowkatt, if you really don't mind. I'd love to see it again. :)

only took me a week but here we go http://s1230.photobucket.com/user/snowcatt/library/transfromers%20sticker%20album/Transformers%20Sticker%20Album?sort=9&page=1

unfortunally there are a few ...caveats
my copy of the album is in tatters its holding together but barley
its dutch ( but i suppose its about seeing it again i hope ; )
and its wider then my scanner so bits and opieces are invariably cut off

on the other hand it is complete there are no missing stickers
it features more then meets the eye
sos dinobots
dinobot war
fire in the sky
heavy metal war
and fire on the mountain

as well as "profile pages" of prime
megatron
slag
snarl
thrust oddly enough
inferno
and swoop

Thanks for doing the scanning, snowkatt. I look forward very much to looking at the album. Unfortunately, the photobucket album is set to "private" at the moment, so I can't see any pictures. Is it something you are happy to open up to public access?

you're welcome
i hope you dont mind it being in dutch

those shiny stickers were off course the best those were special everybody wanted to have those and then the big ones

i still wonder why they chose thrust and inferno though
probably new toy syndrome

also the price on the back is 50 cents and 30 belgian franks
i think thats about 30 p

That did the trick. Thanks, snowkatt!

Wow, that brings back some memories. The excitement of trying to complete one of those multi-sticker images... Shinies... Snarl getting five minutes in the spotlight... Happy days, happy days.

Thanks again, snowkatt!

Holy Crap! This is where I got the sticker album from! I always assumed I’d picked my Mum or Sister had got it for me, but it came packaged with this issue (possibly even with a set of stickers). Great days, it sparked off a tirade of sticker swapping at school (this along with the world cup sticker album), and getting the special silver stickers was always a highlight, and like Simon said, the puzzle images were cool. However, I remember being annoyed with the puzzles in that a lot of the time the segments didn’t match up perfectly. There was always some over/underlap between the pieces, very shoddy.

I still have my sticker album. Spent ages trading cards in the playground, and finished off the book by sending away to Panini for the last however many stickers I needed. Yeah I know that’s a bit of a cheat, but when you had kids with 20+ copies of Thundercracker's left wing it was getting a bit annoying. Brilliant album, up there with ‘No Jacket Required’.

And I’m still really proud of it :-D

huge delay in replying...

If you do put scans up Snowkatt I'll be happy to link to them.

I'm depressed you all seem better at sticker albums than me.

well here it is

its in dutch unfortunally
and wider then my scanner but the upshot is that it is complete
no missing pages or missing stickers

no grimlock or starscream or soundwave or jazz
i always thought the choices of thrust and inferno were a bit peculair

Megatron would not be as impressed when Donny Finkleberg mouthed off to him. Apparently he prefers gangsters to comic book writers.
