I think the first idea behind the BW comics is a good one - some guys have gone looking for the show characters, have related adventure that broadens the scope but isn't tied to the completed cartoon. When it's Razorbeast's plucky band on the run from Magmatron and a Pred plot to nobble Megs, it's quite good. (And Furman shows quick old-school character beats, so there's Iguanus being a teacher's pet NCO while someone else cracks a joke at Spittor's expense and Spittor goes PBBBT)

Yup, agree with all the above. I took out a subscription on this based on the first issue (my first ever), as it felt like it was made by people who gave a hoot and had a good mix of features to cover a variety of ages. I do think the adult fan focus of some of the early editorials and competitions is a bit off-putting. It's nice to be acknowledged, but it's the young 'uns you need to keep interested and engaged.

And weird changes like "actually Injector KNOWS he's fugly" that just make the whole thing less fun.

It’s nice to see Geoff Senior art of modern Transformers, although the shiny computer colouring and blocky computer lettering kind of ruin it.
