Ugh, seeing that image of Skids twitching spasmodically as his brain is being zapped by Circuit Breaker completely turned me off brain surgery as a kid.

On the whole "this was never followed up on" thing, I think that it actually is (though only in the UK stories). In #96, the first issue of Prey, Megatron appears to be gearing up for just a one-on-one fight - and is persuaded to bring the Predacons to Earth in order to give him a cheating advantage.

I'd never thought of it that way - and if that is the case then it's not until the Neo Knights era that Circuit Breaker even gets the chance to be a "complete idiot" as I think that's the next time she actually meets any Autobots. Has she been unfairly described by some of the story so far summaries?

I like Circuit Breaker. Yeah, she's a daft character, but she fits into the pantheon of larger than life villains that Marvel excels in. I think she gets under people's skin precisely for that very reason: she has been created to be a protagonist, and as such not someone you should like. The fact she's always beating up on the good guys is designed to provoke a strong response because we the reader know that she's taking down the wrong guys. To her, all robots are alike. Its just unfortunate that the Autobots are always left holding the baby after any skirmish in a human settlement with the Decepticons - which usually leaves them ripe targets for any government agencies that turn up to mop up.

Just also thought about her costume - or lack thereof. Viewed from a modern standpoint, the amount of flesh she has on show doesn't look unusual for a super-powered female, as a cursory glance through any recent issue of X-Men, Witchblade or whatever other mainstream comic book you care to mention. Going slightly further back to the '70s, Ms Marvel was pretty much running around in just her knickers and a cape.

Circuit Breaker has a very odd moment at the end of the next issue, which I'll be talking about tomorrow...
