Transformation 312: One Door Closes...

This week, you can't keep Optimus Prime down for long. Which is good as Quickmix can be kept down for long quite easily.

Plus, Galvatron has a good day and Scorponok has to worry about how to do a handshake with a claw. And the amazing début of Bomb Blast!

All in my look at SURRENDER PART 2!

Wasn't Dardis the Dalek timeship from The Chase or is that just a fan nickname?

Funny thing about the Manta Force ad, I just watched the Ashens video about one of the toys and he mentioned the Stinkhorn toy. One thing I noticed was that all the human figures that they come with look identical to the Multimac toys by Thinkway Toys, complete with the slightly conical helmets that always reminded me of Egyptian headdresses for some reason, but I think those came out much later.

"Dardis" was apparently the name used in the scripts for both the Chase and the Daleks' Master Plan but it didn't make the screen.

"...but can’t get Bomb Burst’s name right, calling him Bomb Blast."

The first recorded instance of Blastification? :)

This was another issue where I experienced a distribution hick-up but once again Asda came to the rescue, this time towards the end of the fortnight so I didn't have a gap in the stories.

The other Autobots on Cybertron are an interesting sign of where the toyline's got to. Normally any leftover characters from 1989 and 1990 should have been pressed into service. But in practice that would have meant either Micromasters, ruining the effect, or else Roadblock, Vroom and possibly Crossblades (if he could be allowed to appear in two timelines so closely) and otherwise only the new character Action Masters though I'm guessing Furman and/or Wildman didn't want to feature them until the gimmick arrived. It seems the constraints are well and truly faded by now.

Optimus Colin! Oh if only Lew could have used this while there was time... As somebody who was only just starting to watch Twin Peaks with the second season, I didn't get a lot of the jokes in this one. I guess when the current series gets up to this one it will be quite a delight to spot them.

If the poll deemed it was too long to consider more than one writer then on the same distance there are only two contenders for best back-up strip. I wonder how many flocked to Machine Man? (I certainly did.)

The panicky Autobot talking to Xaaron looks to me like another generic, similar to the panicky green Autobot who wanted to surrender in last issue’s flashback. However I don’t have a clear mental picture of Scoop, so I’m not sure.

Your capacity for having your mouth half-sewn-shut is breathtaking, Xaaron.

I like Colin’s front-facing expression in that voting form. It reminds me of “Inspector Gadget.” Steve’s “Wooo!” is cute too.

I wasn’t curious about Manta Force vs. the Stenchoids but I did want to see the “Twin Peaks” moments in “Combat Colin”! ☺

PS: Here’s a “ ™ ” if you need it! ☺
