I must be one of the only people who doesn't mind the Triggerbots. They seem a fairly solid, little gang, if just a shade..normal. They're just the Transformers equivalent of regular guys to me. I'd agree that this story doesn't really help sell them as battle weary warriors, more a bunch of bank workers on a creepy away day. Ugly toys though, and Delbo drawing them in full on toy mode doesn't help.

I'd forgotten about the 'Assasins' strip. Something about this whole Starscream/ Soundwave/ Megatron/ Shockwave story fails to commit itself to memory. I think its the 5 part chunks - it just doesn't hang well together in the same way the Survivors stuff did. Nice art by Anderson though.

As for G.I.Joe... I dunno, I get the jingoistic nature of the strip really rankles, especially given today's political climate and this sort of straight faced Team America approach is the worst, but I can't get angry and annoyed about something I've just never had much time for, simply for what it is, which is a load of silly ninja/ military nonsense based on a toy. It pales next to Britian's Commando or even something with a bit more legs to it like Charley's War or When The Wind Blows. It probably does/ did deserve closer scrutiny from editorial if its purporting to be something other than what it is. Hama using characters to vent opinions is nothing unusual, as most writers will use a characters like this. That it comes across as jarring and unsubtle and out of context, probably says more about his skills as a writer than anything else. And yes, it is silly that a character who was about to shoot someone for destroying THE FLAG is now going to blow up a building with flags in (presumably everyone else, including the clerical and cleaning staff has been evacuated) is ridiculous and I've no idea what kind of 'message' Hama is trying to deliver through Roadblock, other than he should perhaps be 4F and seek some psychiatric help.

The only person in the building is the ambassador IIRC from the internet. Everyone else but him seems to have buggered off - which is sure handy for the Joes who only sent three guys, eh?

Shockwave and Megatron watching the monitor together in a dark room has a pleasantly cozy “Mystery Science Theatre 3000” feel to it.

IIRC, the Joes are just going to blow up the office with the documents that reveal the US’s involvement, not the entire building (so any flags outside of that room should be OK). While the Joes are wiring the room, the ambassador is quickly filling his attaché case with whatever documents he doesn’t want disappeared.

Still, with Roadblock being so generous with the explosives, it’s like you said. I must confess to having been thick and not noticed the contradiction when I read the issue!
