![]() It's a case of never cry wolf as a Decepticon cuts his Neddlenose to spite his face. Plus, Mindbender goes monocle to monocle with Shockwave. All this and the Giggling stops in my look at Transformers UK#272 And Transformation 2 is OUT NOW!

I had a longer wait than usual to read this issue as I'd gone away with my mother and sister to stay with my grandparents for half-term (it was one of the time when my sister and I had the same week off) and so couldn't collect the issue from my local John Menzies. As a result I had to look to other comics and books (a neighbour lent me the 1987 annual for a couple of days) but had to wait for my father to come up for the second weekend bringing this issue with him. This one was definitely worth the weight. Every story in this issue is stepping up the pace and getting darker than previously, making up for the recent excesses.

I personally still like the 'Earthforce happens during Matrix Quest' idea. I mean, we don't know how long the quest lasts (although we only see four teams of questing Autobots, there are presumably dozens of Matrix Quest adventures that happen off-screen). There could be months or even years between the start of the quest and when the Mayhems finally show up in it - plenty of time for a few repairs to be undertaken!

I was about to drop the comic back in the day but this UK storyline keep me going for a while longer. There's a reason it's well remembered to this day as it sticks out like a sore thumb from the mind-boggling awful comedy Earthforce capers that surround it!

This was the first issue I had missed since starting with 182. I missed the next one too. I'd go on missing and not missing issues until the first part of Still Live in 323. I can't remember exactly what I had missed, but I know I missed all of On The Edge. I also missed both parts of End of the Road. My interest in TFs would probably have been waning while my interest in Lego was growing. I believe I got my first Technic set at around this time, and I was obsessed with Space as well.

PS: Forgot to add that in the “Next Week” panel I thought Serpentor had an octopus head at first!

I know I'm really late to this, but this is definitely not the first time we here the Giggley Sisters' first names. I'm not sure when the first time was, but they were at least used when they did their advice column several dozen issues ago.

Phew! I was worried that seeing a load of comments on several year old posts made me seem weird and stalkerish, when I'm actually just working from home, bored, and need something to read whilst feeding a 3 month old baby. 😀 Plus this is the first time I've seen someone review the comic as it would have been experienced by us as kids. And it's definitely made me order the IDW classic collections. Pity the partwork is way past the point of coloured versions of the B&W comics, though... I don't really need the IDW stuff in another format.
