In a case of history repeating, just this very week WORLD'S APART say print again on UK newsstands in the current edition of Hachette's partworks. Sadly, the reproduction is dreadful and it looks so much better in #258 (and proceeding 3 issues). Which is just odd!

Ah, I love this issue. Ravage and Wheeljack - what wonderful characters.

And Stuart, thank you for the clue. It is now obvious to me that the mysterious dream voyeur is Inferno, on the hunt for his (pardon the pun) lost flame Red Alert. Bad news, Inferno, old chap. Ever since he snuck up and hit Brawn, Red Alert has been in fear for his life and is in hiding in the year 2009 with Rodimus. Plus, you're in the wrong continuity. Back to Sunbow you go, I say! Back!

Last time when “GI Joe” complained about the French I was able to think of a possible reason that wasn’t just Larry Hama being bitter. But with this Grenada scene it’s getting harder to see it any other way. Plus it doesn’t exactly make America seem good if it’s that unpopular…were they really hated as much as this scene implies? There are self-declared enemy countries, and independent countries that are not that keen on how America has interfered in their affairs, but are there really countries who just hate America for no good reason?

A more nuanced, and for the 1980s pretty subversive, take is in “GI Joe Special Missions” #10, where the Joes have to escort Prince Ngoto of Kalingaland from Oxford back to his country to (they think) rule it and be their ally. To their surprise he expels the Americans and the Soviets from his country and declares free elections. Rather than be angry about it the Joes decide that a genuinely free democratic country in this region is better than a monarchy or right-wing dictatorship that only allies with America for its own gain, as they might just as easily switch sides when it’s more advantageous.

I may have said this before but I always thought Flint looked vaguely British, even in the American cartoon and comics. Same with Falcon.
