Ironhide has had enough of your shit this week as he takes on some very non-specific Middle Eastern terrorists.

Plus, special guest star Kylie!

Well, let me say that I am very happy we have reached Perchance to Dream. I loved those stories. And I was (and am) so happy to have more time with those '84-'86 guys again. Roll on the beautiful one!

I'm suddenly wondering if Ironhide was a late in the day addition to the Classic Heroes line-up and in turn to this story. This story feels so abstract that it could take place almost anywhen and he's also notably absent from the Magnificent Six in the annual which was probably written around this time.

(And jumping ahead a while, that story is a bit of a mess with Inferno suddenly having critical history with some of the original Autobots despite being separate from them throughout the comic's run until later in the Earthforce days. Okay there's the whole fan theory that Inferno and Red Alert are mostly off panel original Ark crew members but still. Now drop Silverbolt from the Magnificent Six, put Inferno into his role and Ironhide's into *his* and the cast would make much more sense.)

It's a very forgettable tale which is probably why it's not brought much reaction. Though I suspect the hostages are shown shirtless to reflect the practice of terrorists taking precautions against concealed weapons.

Reprinting Target 2006 was a bold statement by the comic that they expected to be going for at least another year; it's a pity this crashed so badly.

And yes, an exploding brain would have been a much better image than Kylie.

I like your Magnificent Six theory. That would have worked very well.

Also an interesting idea about the shirtless hostages. I would counter that by saying that this was 1990 - it was probably just seen as the way cool young Anericans dressed by the artist. Like, totally bodacious, man!

Ah the upcoming Target:2006 reprint shitstorm. Oh dear.

The Ironhide story just may be the most forgettable black and white story of all. There are ones I find far worse but at least they instilled a reaction!
