This week, Hot Rod has a cunning plan.

Meanwhile, in the future, Rodimus has no plan at all as an Old Friend comes to say hi.

It's all in my look at issue 253!

Glad it's not just me who's experienced problems with Hachette's definition of "communication"! One failed attempt to order a single issue (3/6, with the first recoloured UK B&W strips) and 1 1/2 months later, after repeated attempts to resolve the issue and/or get a refund, I just bought a copy off eBay instead!

Incidentally, as this is my first comment here, I also have to mention that your blog is an excellent resource on the Marvel UK comic that I look forward to every week!

Thanks Jon, Hachette: Bringing people together through incompetence.

My inner grammar nazi is horribly offended at your repeated confusion of moral and morale.

Also, a terrorist organisation setting up a scam calls operation may not be that interesting, but it's incredibly plausible. After all, they have to pay for all those jets GI Joe keeps shooting down somehow...

God almighty, Hachette's Customer Care Centre... it's the new Purgatory.

Having recently discovered this blog i've spent the last week or two reading them all and this week's is the first one since catching up. I have to say, despite the spelling/grammar issues i am really enjoying it. And the Henry's Cat reference. Thank you!

It is a fact of human history that the panel of Longtooth being shot to death is the greatest illustration of any kind in the history of humanity. Why it is not emblazoned across all forms of media planetwide remains a constant source of mystery and suspense for me.

Deep in a jungle somewhere, songs are sung of that panel. The effects have also reverberated backwards in time. Leonardo da Vinci: he was a fan too. You want to know what the Mona Lisa was smiling about? I can now reveal the truth to you all: she was showing delight at Longtooth's demise at the hands of a possessed Evil Rodimus!

You are welcome.

SPECIAL TEAMS!

Nah, she was smiling at the thought that there would be several original paintings of her bricked up in a Paris chateau...

"It really is a very pretty painting."

Can't believe Stu is getting hassle about spelling or grammar! Considering he is cranking out 1000 words a week (?) I think the quality is highly admirable!

The micro masters were presumably a response to the popularity of micro machines? Not sure why hasbro had to get transformers dragged into it though. I had the autobot cars (rescue patrol?). Including the pleasingly plot-pivotal in issues to come Fixit!

Just wanted to add to the comments here about Hachette. Never in my life have I experienced such dreadful, incompetent telephone service! I've been through nightmares trying to a) get them to upgrade me to a premium subscription, b) STOP sending me Warhammer 40k (which I didn't order) and c) deliver the missing issues and free gifts caused by the chaos of the first two requests!

Just spoken with them now - my payments are seemingly overdue despite me having filled in TWO Direct Debits, and updated my address after one item was apparently "sent back" (I never saw it) meaning they cancelled my subscription!

I'm giving them one last chance - they fluff that I'll be getting them from Forbidden Planet.

Such a shame, too, as the books themselves are amazing.

Now I'm REALLY worried, because I'll be moving within the next few months, I don't want to deal with complete incompetence on the phone as well.

I just get my Hachette stuff straight from the newsagent. The subscription bonuses aren't worth all the extra hassle.

I don’t mind that it says “FUEL” on the fuel although if I wanted to be pedantic about it I could wonder why it’s in English and not Cybertronian. But instead I’ll assume it’s being translated for our benefit. I mean come on.

Similarly I’ll give the comic the benefit of the doubt that this is a different model of Guardian robot (hence the “Mark IV” designation).

It looks like that Guardian shot Brainstorm in the bum after reading your review of how they defeated Classic Pretender Starscream! :-)

I forgot that Cobra had its evil business empire side of things even in the comics too. In the cartoon there was a surreal quality to the way that the evil twin brothers openly ran Extensive Enterprises, and everyone acted like they couldn’t tell it was them because they were wearing 1970s business suits.

Anyway, Cobra Commander built one of his fortunes through multi-level marketing, with the Crimson Guard starting an Amway-esque organisation selling cleaning products. The more intelligent half of the Dreadnoks ran a real estate flipping seminar in New Jersey. And then there were the sales of vehicles, weapons, and bases to dictators, now legal with Cobra being its own country. You have to hand it to Cobra, they really got their corporate evil figured out. It makes you miss the days when the bad guys funded their operations with drug dealing!
