That magnificent man who is his own flying machine takes on the brawn of...err... Brawn. Plus Planet bloody Terry.

All in our look at the penultimate instalment of Furman's first story:

The Enemy Within! Part 4.

That panel on the next issue box does give it away somewhat. It reminds me of The Times listing for an episode of Dallas:

J.R. undergoes his second operation which is of a kill or cure nature. I understand he survives.

(Despite this spoiler the episode was the 5th most watched programme of the decade!)

Wow, what a flashback! I coveted those Transformers marbles at the time. I never got them, but I remember ogling their brilliance in the photo. Not that I knew how to play Marbles or the fact that there was only five of them, but they were trinkets of brilliance.

Of course in real life they would’ve got scuffed to hell and may have been poorly designed in the first place (how good was the image of the Transformer?), but dammit man… I wanted them!

Yes Planet Terry sucked. And it gets worse and worse as the issues roll on. It really jarred against the stark reality of Jim Collin’s serious Transformers artwork. And the comic was fortnightly at the time, an interminable wait for the next issue (although I wasn’t old enough to know what interminable waiting was).

I mean, its painful now waiting for the second TPB of MTMTE… and I know I’ll be pulling someone else’s hair out for the third. Do I just give in and buy the individual issues instead? Probably. If the second TPB doesn’t have the juicy goodness extras of the LSotW TPB then I may as well.

in fairness to the next issue box it was probably thrown together very, very quickly.

What you should do Slag is just get some marbles and pretend they came in a box with a picture of Skywarp on it.

Can we please see the image of Sideswipe laughing/crying? :-)

First issue I got, probably because I’d gone potty over the tv series. I was hooked from here.

A good one to start with.

I always loved the art and colouring of this saga; even though the characters are very toy-centric, they still looked like large heavy robots (in Brawn’s case), and super-sophisticated heavy robots (in Starscream’s). And Ravage looks incredibly cool in every panel, and of course everything about it just made Planet Terry look all the more inept and childish.

Was there an image of Sideswipe laughing/crying? The only laughing one I remember was Megatron.
