This week, it's the conclusion of the opening miniseries as Starscream's coup falls apart nearly as quickly as he does.

All in my look at Infiltration issue 6!

I've also discovered something that will result in a redesign of the site fairly soon. I'll talk about the why when it happens (though for those of you on Twitter, I'll make a statement on the day of this post). Which sounds ominous, and to an extent it is, but I'll explain more at the appropriate moment.

Hi Stuart

just realised you had started doing this and as fate would have it i am re reading the IDW run myself so the fates have aligned

really looking forward to your take on what was going on behind the seens

when i read this one initially i remember being very pleased with the ending and the new direction for the story, but felt that the run was both a bit rushed but also directionless in parts. I agree with you also about starscreams death and the feeling that it would of been more shocking to have him die, but i don't think Game of thrones had started its TV run yet so the idea of killing off major characters early on hadn't yet caught on

For me the only thing that undermines these issues is the future knowledge of how Furmans run was going to end but that is for the future

Welcome aboard Gary!

I think that's an extremely fair assessment of the issue and the difficulties of not thinking about the future.

Hopefully the ride will be fun.

I'm of a mixed mind as to this one. Whilst the fight between Megatron and Starscream is indeed the highlight and is very well done, I'm not sure it actually matches the promise that was given at the start of the series. We were promised a more human's-eye view of the Transformers, and whilst we've certainly had that, and whilst it was inevitable that the focus would over time shift more on to the Cybertronians themselves, it seems to do so rather suddenly here - possibly, as you suggest, as a result of "fan" feedback. It's a shame though, because the humans really should have been given more of a focus, here. The issue only really gets away with it because of the bombast of the confrontation.

The very end though certainly gives this a feeling that it's "end of part one" as opposed to the actual end of a series, so a lot can be forgiven for that. And given that you get to see Prime from ground level it seems that the human point-of-view hasn't been forgotten completely, So there was, at the time, some promise.

And I certainly remember being disappointed with the revelation that the next series would be going back to Cybertron so soon. I was enjoying this new approach to the Transformers' arrival on Earth, and going back to an all-robot series was just going to be same old, same old. But more on that next time. Or whenever I get a chance to respond, anyway...

Just realised I didn't mention in the piece that the sudden return to human level POV on the last page did stand out.

I'll be totally honest. It's this that puts me off reading modern IDW. I don't really care much for 'all Cybertron' or 'post war' or 'early war' continuities except as a treat (like the Blaster story in Marvel).

Resultantly Stormbringer was the first IDW story I read and I stopped in my tracks.

It took All Hail Megatron, split over Earth and Cybertron, to bring me back to the fold.

Although I don't mind Stormbringer now (I still don't rate it massively though), Furman's other stories at the time are much more arresting and fun to me. Infiltration is the weakest of the bunch but it's still quite fun! And again, I'm a Verity mark so...
