Meet our new villain.... an Autobot?!?!!

It's eleven thoughtful pages all in one room as Springer and Xaaron are put through the wringer. Plus Death's Head and Dragon's...err... Teeth.

All in my look at Legion of the Lost! Part 2.

The air-vent point always draws out something that turns up in Furman Transformers, when they turn out to be a little too human. True, we don’t want creatures that are so alien we can’t relate to them at all (although there is something to be said about the sinister robots of Man of Iron), but every so often there’s something that just stands out a little too much. Case in point – my pet irritation is when one of the Autobots says ‘geez’– are we to believe they’re all lapsed American Christians?

I've also got very fond memories of that special - particularly reading it in my grandparents' garden in Shrewsbury that Easter weekend. In the following year a lot changed in my life and so looking back it was an even more significant holiday than I realised at the time. But the saga has held up well to this day.

But I do agree there's some dodgy continuity around Flame's whole backstory. It's entirely possible for a politician to still be working at a university but the whole impression here is that Flame made his proposal in a time of peace not during an active war started over that very concept. And the four million years once again just makes Cybertron look absurdly static during the Ark's entombment. Still it allows for a different kind of foe from the norm - it's amazing how many of the assumptions about Autobots and Decepticons are turned on their heads in this saga.

As for the ventilation shaft, could this be part of the reactor set-up? And the cell may not have been built for such a purpose but as part of the complex.

Oh and the Rebirth cartoon comes before the Return of Optimus Prime. The next release said so and so it must be true. ;)

Yeah, Flame is a fudge. On a similar note, we've got another First Meeting between Prime and Megs to come later this year as well. It seems anyone who wrote for the franchise wanted to do one.

The vent could have been for reactor waste, but then it feels rather like (the film, in the book there's actually a reason for it) Dr. No and it's ventilation shaft that has lots of boiling water flow through it, presumably out onto the floor of every cell and room with an exit grate along the way.

[We all know Furman loves a bit of Bond, but next week I'm going to be making the most delightfully tenuous connection yet. As a tease all I'll say is there's a Bond book that had the working title Meltdown...]

Hey, I just pimped this blog in the "count to one million" thread on Gallifreybase. Never let it be said that I don't spread the word. Even if I never say anything very good in these comments.

This was a damn good run wasn't it? I do miss *ptuup* though. And why did they never properly kill Donny Finklgruber? That guy drove Roger Stern off of Spider-man and then reworked Potato Salad Man as the worst Spider-man story ever!

Thanks for the pimping, and like the Giggly Sisters I love all my regular readers (and their comments).

Donny should have been in Regeneration One. He could have teamed up with Bomber Bill and Mozzarella Mike.

Fairly sure I own (or used to own) the page of original art for Springer being depressed in his cell. I must have a look in the Cupboard Of Doom.

Anderson does seem to have kept a lot of his original art (and now reaps the benefits at conventions) so that is more than likely. We're both in the Jeff Anderson Art Owners Club. We should make a badge.
