The Icarus Theory Part 2.
The big storyline for the forthcoming 50th issue kicks into high gear as Swoop regains his self control but turns out to be suffering from something even more serious. All in one of the best issues of the entire run as I look at:

Both this story and Desertion of the Dinobots raise a bugbear of mine - the idea that the impact of systems damage caused over a four million year period suddenly hits everyone at about the same time.

To be fair, we don't know that it's hit all the Dinobots at the same time - by my reckoning over twelve months of fictional time pass between the Dinobots' previous appearance in "The Wrath of Grimlock" and here.

I'll talk more about that next week (oh what a tease) but considering we're just coming off the back of a story that was designed to rework elements of the cartoon I wouldn't be totally surprised if this had its origin in a Reverse Desertion of the Dinobots idea as well.

@Snowcat: "S Dinobots" as in the four with names starting with S. I've not read the original issue so what might have been done for the 50th beyond the lead strip is a surprise I'm looking forward to.

I believe you, 1000s wouldn't. Sent you the link, Stu. I thought of the Tony Hart angle myself while I was doing the pic. "And look what little Nick aged 37 and a bit sent us in. Awww, bless." (*ruffles hair*)

This story is surprisingly dark, what with Morris killing the security guard and Swoop's "you're dead" here. It works for the story, though, adds gravitas. It's one that I remember well from back as a kid, same as the story coming up next...

I’m glad I read the comments. I totally didn’t get the “S” Dinobots thing and assumed it was a typo! Swoop always seemed the most accessible Dinobot, whether in comic or cartoon form. While the rest of them were supposed to be sort of scary and dangerous, he was a lot more approachable. As a kid, I liked that about him.
