Just like me, Jesse (remember Jesse?) is on holiday.

Unlike me Jesse is going to a SPACE island ran by evil Decepticons (I went to London and saw the Book of Mormon, thanks for asking) on a desperate mission to rescue her Good Friend Buster (remember Buster?).

Meanwhile, Ratbat (well obviously we all remember him) becomes a holiday rep and Starscream (no idea) wants you deep within him. It's all in my look at seven days in the sun: Club Con! Part 1.

Jessie has caught Moron Disease on the cover. The metal sea monster can't hear you!

If only it was one of the incredible...

Love Underbase. All the continuity stuff about the previous four issues went totally unnoticed by me. And still does. Why, its almost as if I don't care.

I think this is the best story for Starscream, with a clear, clever plan and agenda. Its such a shame that most of the time, he's portrayed as a cowardly screeching tool of the highest order (I say this re-watching Transformers Prime on smashing Region 2-o-vision DVD which continues this appalling character trope) . Its really nice to see him making the most of his abilities.

And the same goes for Jessie. Who is ace here. Although as a ginger, I hope she's put sufficient sun lotion on.

Agree with all the comments on the art. Some decent stuff done by Delbo, undermined by random characters that shouldn't be there and Yomotov's ever awe-inspiring colouring.

SEACONS!!!

Both occurrences of a Battlecharger here are Runamuck - he has clean, blocky arms, whereas Runabout's arms are covered with panel details. Plus, Runabout has an extra 'chin' segment on his faceplate, which Runamuck lacks!

But that's worse for Delbo as it means he drew the same character on both sides!

Regarding Decepticon Imperial Headquarters - there's the delicious possibility that Ratbat is temporarily taking his orders from the Cybertronian Empire!

Who, erm, have instructed him to construct a holiday resort. Not quite the destruction of San Francisco, I know, but...

Well San Fran is a major tourist destination, maybe the Empire was just trying to corner the market by taking out the competition?

Who’s Josie? :-)

Yes, this is peak Starscream as far as the comic is concerned. He’s more devious, more charming, and more clever here than in previous issues or future issues. I do look forward to the brief appearance of his Pretender shell, though.

That block coloured panel of the Autobots (and a Battlecharger) standing in front of the monitor could be excused as dramatic lighting, the brightness of the screen casting everything in the room into a pool of light. That’s how I’ll choose to look at it. :-)

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks Blaster was being mean to the Autobots he was training with.

Wow, that is terrible replacement lettering. They weren’t even trying. They would have been better off just using a typewriter if they weren’t going to try to write neatly, let alone match the style.

Maybe Ratbat is taking orders from Thunderwing, whom we haven’t met yet but who seems to be in charge of the Decepticons on Cybertron next time we see it.

Another Mike-Carlin-esque background extra, walking behind Jessie in the “most 1980s person” panel?

Is it Terrordome or Terrordrome? The “Next Week” box says “terror drome” although weirdly they do it all lower-case and as two separate words. I think it’s “drome,” like in “Videodrome.” Terror circus, terror arena.
