This week, it's the most exciting of things to talk about, a genuinely good comic!

Nick Roche returns and sets the agenda for the rest of IDW, whilst Denton Tipton may not be able to Go bigger, but is still bang on target.

All as I look at All Hail Megatron issue 15!

As I've mentioned before, All Hail Megatron had quite sorely tested my resolve to collect all the Transformers comics, and I'd come very close during that run to just cancelling my orders. With news of the codas though and that a new writer was taking on the ongoing series I thought I'd stick with it a little longer and see what they'd do with it. Whilst I'd very quickly question the decision when we got to the ongoing series, this was most definitely the issue that renewed my resolve to stick with the comic for just a little bit longer.

And what can I say about this that's not already been said? Roche's story is just wonderful, both in terms of art and writing. There's some great character stuff that sets up a very interesting premise, and there's some nice commentary on both the fictional war and actual real-world issues, as you point out. This really was a stand-out, and I love it. The explanation for the Cy-Gar, that Kup was rehabilitated using Pretender technology... it's all great. A shame in hindsight that a lot of this was never followed up on, but this is nevertheless a great story.

And Tipton's story isn't bad, either. Whilst it's not quite up to the standard of Roche's, it still goes a long way to plugging up the nagging gaps that AHM had left in story and characterisation. It's a nice explanation of why Perceptor ends up as we found him in AHM (with adamant chestplate and all - he clearly doesn't follow fashion, because that'd be a joke...), and actually makes a logical sense given the character and situation. And it works nicely with Roche's story, making this an essential issue and an actual coda for AHM.

It's also interesting that both issues show characters upgrading their bodies, with it seeming perfectly natural, which shows how alien these sentient robots actually are. We'll definitely get aspects of this going forward, although it'll often lean more into the body-horror side of things, but this I think is the first time it's really been emphasised that these alien robots are, indeed, fully upgradable robots.

So yes, easily the strongest issue for a while, and one that convinced me to stay the course. Let's see how long it takes for us to regret that decision...

That's what- No, no-one's ever said that to me.

I just happened to have sat down for lunch when this was posted, hence the pouncing. Don't worry, for the next couple of weeks I'll be my usual tardy self with posting. Especially considering I'll be away from home next week...
