It's the end of an era this week... though it's the first of two and a bit times it will end.

E.J. Su gives us some of the greatest Transformers art of all time, but will the story have a Nega impact? Can we Pretend Sideswipe has more than a cameo in this comic named after him, or should the whole thing be chucked in the Solar Pool?

Find out as I look at Spotlight Sideswipe!

What we have here is the polar (or should that be "pool-ar"?) (no, no it should not) opposite of All Hail Megatron. That is a comic with too many pages and not enough story, and this is a comic too much story and too few pages. If they could've cut a couple of issues out of AHM and given them to Revelations then I'm sure everyone would've been happier. But no, it was the soft reboot they were banking on. And, well...

You've already pretty much nailed all the issues with the story here, and I can't disagree with them. So all I'll say is that this was just as disappointing to read at the time as it is to re-read now.

But to simply look at, on the other hand, this issue is indeed a stunning work of art. E.J. Su's work is absolutely beautiful, and yes, this was and indeed is still the best looking Transformers comic of all time.

Nothing left to do now then, other than to dream of an alternate timeline where Revelations was longer and every issue was illustrated like this, is to brace myself for return to the "crowning glory" that is All Hail Megatron. The disappointment? It never ends...

Revelations ( i always add that S for some reason ) is all about could have and should have.
it should have been twice as long.
It should have been folded in with Maximum Dinobots and be 10 issues.
It should have been separate from spotlights.
It should have been better.

What we got, was at least better then AHM.
Which is not very hard to do. At Least we had Maximum Dinobots to tide us over. But after that all we got was Last Stand Of The Wreckers, as the only bright spot in 4 very long very dire years. With the double trainwrecks that are AHM and the 2009 series.

Until they launched MTME and RID.
But dark and dismal times are ahead !
