Happy new year!

This website is now ten years old, so expect some fun throughout 2021.

Back in January 2006, it's sexisim and completely authentic teen culture as we finally get a answer to the question "Are the robots real?" that might surprise you.

(SPOILER: they are real)

All in my look at Infiltration #1!

Hi Stuart! I'm along for the ride again. And thanks to Hachette, I at least have the stories to be able to comment. Hooray!

Do you know, I like Verity. I think she's alright. Hunter's a tool and represents the worst of geek culture, as you summed up in your review. It's a shame to hear the mooing of fandom is already causing IDW headaches at this early stage. Personally, I like this attempt to reboot and relaunch doing a sort of modern 1984 from the ground up. Just a shame about the awful names Furman gives the human cast and that Jimmy The Pink is even in the book. I'd never thought about how old Verity is, so that's just creeped me out. Thanks for that XD

Su's artwork is still some of the very best Transformers has ever had and I would love to have seen more of him on the books long term.

Welcome aboard Simon!

I think that's a pretty fair summary, and glad to have already freaked you out.

I'm also along for the ride thanks to Hachette!

I know those books have had some criticism from the fans here and there (and it also sucks royally that they just decided not to include The Gift for 'reasons'? Why the heck wouldn't they include the text stories as well to 'complete' the set - especially with the extra 20 issues) but they have really been amazing for me. They have pride of place on my bookshelf.

Finally getting around to this - who'd've thought that a Scraplet infestation could be so time consuming..?

But anyway, on to the issue. I can't remember what I made of it at the time, but then I can barely remember what I read of it a few nights back when I needed more sleep. But I do like it, and the fact that we get very little actual Transformers action until the end. Possibly a little frustrating at the time, but it definitely gives it the feel that a ground-up reboot like this needs. And I still really like it.

I've also always liked Verity from the start. Hunter and Jimmy though, well... I mean, they're in the comic.

If Kor sang a song about this one, a verse would be "And Jimmy came too".

Just discovered you are doing this. Neat! I really liked Infiltration when I read it as part of a Humble Bundle a few years ago. It felt to me like Furman had watched RTD's "Rose" and thought, "I could do that."

(Here are my comments from when I read it: https://lessaccurategrandmother.blogspot.com/2016/11/review-transformers-infiltration-by-simon-furman-ej-su.html)

Your analysis of Hunter comes of as a "nice guy" telling girls that he's not like the incel nice guy, he's the cool progressive nice guy. It's totally legit question, why a hitchhiker, someone who can't afford a bus ticket, somehow has top of the line smart device with her.
