Happy Boxing Day! did you get that Masterpiece Bumblebee you wanted?

This week, proof that Beyonce wasn't talking out her arse when she said girls ran the world, as I look at the first part of Ladies' Night and the conclusion of Broken Glass!

Susan may seem out of her area but a lot in archaeology (and indeed in most subjects and vocations) wind up taking whatever pays and/or will get you on TV.

(And yes, this and last week's story are the main reasons I think the comic was expecting everyone to have read the annual by now. The fact that next year they avoided follow-ups until the New Year suggests this was an intention they realised didn't work.)

The Headmaster heads are a pain - I wonder if Springer had been confused by the early intention that the original and Nebulan heads would look differently and was struggling to convert the double headmaster Fortress Maximus toy into a conventional singule Headmaster character. The annual seems to be based on an earlier treatment and is almost completely consistent with this convention.

Action Force may have had its problems but the Violent Lives! storyline advertised is one of the strongest the weekly did, managing to incorporate a reprint of Silent Job into a very tough character piece. Perhaps too little too late but it's the sort of thing worth promoting regardless of the overall sales position.

Are there any lawyers reading this who could clarify just what could and couldn't be published about Spy Catcher in late 1987? I think the *existence* of the book and the government ban was reportable but the contents weren't (apparently the UK edition of the Economist ran a near blank page in place of a review) so Lew/Marvel would have been on safe ground with this.

Whilst I was being a bit tongue in cheek with the Spy Catcher comment you never can tell with the rather bonkers way that entire long running and expensive case was handled (IIRC I read recently the only revelation in the whole book that hadn't been claimed by books previously published in the UK was how MI5 open and reseal letters so no on knows they've done it), it being in a bin could be considered enough of a review!

[Though anyone who knows for sure, do feel free to share. It's actually something I've always planned to look more into as it sounds fascinating and insane, this could be a pretty good excuse].

I could understand Springer being confused if say, the heads and bodies were changing from issue to issue or even in different parts of the same issue, but when Fortress Maximus has different heads in consecutive panels of the same page it's hard to rationalise in any way that casts him in a good light.

Unless, as happened with issue 1 (some of the original unaltered art for which is included in IDW's 30th Anniversary book) this is a result of someone going back in afterwards and changing the art to be more accurate and not doing a very good job of it.
