This week, Devastator is handy in a fight, Starscream is that bitchy ex and we finally hit The Good Bit of All Hail Megatron with one issue to go.

All as I look at issue 10!

First off, wanted to inform you that you accidentally copied three paragraphs from just before the Omega Supreme pic to just after.

Second, been following your Revis reviews since I found your blog a month ago and got caught up. Very much enjoying the trip down memory lane and interesting trivia, insights, and things I’d totally forgotten since unlike MTMTE I haven’t reread the pre-Chaos Theory material a million times. I’m also making my way through Transformation, which is awesome in a totally different way since I grew up in the ‘90s with a Marvel US (and partial marvel uk) collection I gradually cobbled together but didn’t even get to read most of the UK only material til the Titan Reprints.

As for AHM itself, which I was very much not a fan of except for Guido’s art… still glad to be revisiting it with you. Kinda surprised you picked the panel of Megatron getting crushed over a pic of Devastator. Sure Guido had the opportunity to do some redesigns for IDW before, but I think seeing his AHM Devastator was his first IDW design that REALLY impressed me. Which especially stands out here where hasbro wanted most of the characters to look like either their sunbow designs or current product.

Thanks, for both the kind words and pointing out the hopefully now fixed error.

I'll start with an apology - with the change of release schedule for these I'm likely to regularly post comments a lot later than before, since these are no longer dropping whilst I work. Er. Or should have been working. Basically I'm not tethered to a computer at the weekends, I'm generally tethered to a Scraplet instead, which is a lot less conducive to being able to type...

But that aside, it's a good way to think about this issue, as finally getting back to the blockbuster movie feel they were clearly going for in the first couple of issues. And in that context, Omega Supreme's arrival is also a cool moment.

Unfortunately, in the context of the rest of the series, it's awful. First of all, because it takes three whole pages to depict his dramatic entrance - and sure, the art is cool and all, but in a series that's wasted a lot of time on big splash pages that do nothing, this doesn't feel at all welcome. And also, it just comes out of nowhere, and feels very deus ex machina(and it's a pretty big machina)-esque, which at this part of the series with so little coming before it seems like something was wasted. Yes, we know Hot Rod had called for help, but for some reason it just doesn't seem to connect with Omega's arrival.

Whilst that may seem like I'm just getting angry for the sake of it, it is also unfortunately how I felt at the time, and still do to an extent. The series has been such a misfire up until this point that any sense of me going "Oh, cool!" to the big moments has long since evaporated, and now I just want them to get on with it. Which they finally are, again, but it's just a little too late.

The other good part of the issue is Starscream finally turning on Megatron. Although, as you point out, this has been done before, and so doesn't have as much impact as it should have done. But at least something's happening.

So a mild improvement, I guess. Although that's really not saying much.

The one question that I came away from this issue with, though, was: How long have they been colouring Starscream like his Marvel US counterpart for..?

So who are your two dedicated readers ?
....Oh, one of them is me and the other s Llama God aren't they ?

I don't have much to say about this issues other then it plays it too close to the cartoon for me to care.
Omega Supreme has been reduced to a plot device and his cartoon persona.

And that this should have been issue 4 in a 6 parter not issue 10 in a 12 parter.

In a better written better edited series this would have been.

At least his miserable excuse for a comic is nearly over and done with.

And then the Coda's and the Costa series.
Sigh dark times are ahead of us, with only a wreckers mini series and a spotlight providing any bright spots.
