Sorry for not commenting sooner - I was too busy punching everything and anything, like the alpha male that I truly am. UH. And other manly, grunting noises.

But yes, this is an improvement on issue 4 - but to be fair being worse would have been something of an achievement. It's nice to actually see some Transformers this time, and we do get some nice bits of characterisation, but it's still very much soured by the Earthbound stuff included in the issue, and the sense that we should've covered this last issue. And also, as you say, a bigger sense that McCarthy hadn't bothered to read any of the stories that came before it. There's still a general sense of disrespect to the long-term reader that's hard to shake.

As to Megatron's statement that the Earth is now theirs despite not actually having conquered this, this is either arrogance on his part, the assumption that having conquered Earth's greatest city (um) the rest will be easy, or he's just spent too long in America already ("This *is* the entire world, right..?").

So yeah, an improvement. But still not great, and still way below the level of quality you'd expect to be receiving each month.
