Despite its shortcomings, this mini-series was still a pretty fun read and, like you said, a harmless story. If anything, it established the presence of neutral factions, even if they weren't fully fleshed out here imo.

Also, I really hate being the guy who goes on your posts to always point out mistakes (lol), but there's a repeat of paragraphs here. The section starting with "Drift is equally full of declarations" to "right after an assassination attempt on his leader" is repeated twice.

But regardless, this was a well-made retrospective. I can't say I'm enthusiastic about the next mini-series after this one, but it'll at least be enjoyable to see what your thoughts will be on that one as well.

Well as the end of miniseries go that certainly was one. The main thing that can be said about it really is that it's not as offensive as the borderline juvenile politics of the Costa ongoing and that at least, unlike that series, it actually has a clear focus - albeit a very slight one.

But this is fine, really. The conclusion is nothing unexpected, and Milne is doing mostly decent work on art duties, so it does kind of rattle along. Even if the ending feels both a bit forced and also a bit "so what?"

In terms of the story itself there are certainly things that don't make sense. Like, who is that fight-happy Crystal Cityian cheering Drift on? How come the hidden pacifist city is so quick to emerge and be ready for war? But it all serves to provide what the reader was expecting, so... as I say, I guess it's fine. And there are worse series.

Ultimately, this miniseries could have just been a single issue. Or a flashback sequence in another issue. At the time I don't remember feeling particularly enlightened by the events of that issue, and still don't. But there you go. It's done. So on to the next thing, I guess...
